Am I a Good Candidate for a Posterior Buttocks Lift?

You may be a good candidate if you are in good overall health, at least 18 years old and would like a perkier, better-defined backside. Individuals who have lost a significant amount of weight and feel their buttocks are left looking saggy or deflated are often ideal candidates for this surgery. The best way to determine if a buttocks lift is right for you is to schedule a consultation. Dr. Daniel will discuss your concerns and goals, evaluate your overall health and help you discover if you’re a good candidate for this procedure.

What Happens during a Posterior Buttocks Lift?

During the surgery, incisions are made at the top of the buttocks. A horizontal strip of excess skin and fat is removed, and the remaining skin is lifted and stitched into place. This part of the procedure can improve buttocks that have a saggy appearance, but will not increase the volume or size of the buttocks. This limitation of a buttocks lift is important to understand so you have proper expectations about the results you can likely achieve.

What Is the Recovery Period Like after a Posterior Buttocks Lift?

As with any plastic surgery, there is downtime required after a buttocks lift to allow for proper healing. How long the recovery period will be can vary from person to person and will depend on how extensive your procedure is. After a buttocks lift, you can expect to have swelling, discomfort and bruising, all of which will gradually subside in the weeks following surgery. Generally, anyone having a buttocks lift can expect to spend the first several days resting at home and can typically return to normal activities about two weeks after surgery. More strenuous activities and exercise will generally need to be avoided for approximately 1 to 2 months, and Dr. Daniel will advise you when the time is right to return to these activities.

Will I Need to Wear Compression Garments?

Compression garments are a wonderful post-operative tool that can significantly help the body heal and recover after a buttocks lift. The garments help to reduce swelling and fluid build up and can also increase your comfort level after surgery. Most people will be instructed to wear the compression garments for several weeks after surgery.

Will I Have Scars after a Posterior Buttocks Lift?

As with any surgery, scars will result from a buttock lift procedure. However, the scars will be located so that they’re hidden by most swimwear and underwear, and they will gradually fade over time. Most people feel that the benefits of a buttocks lift far outweigh the minimal scarring they have as a result of the surgery.

How Soon Will I See My Final Results?

Immediately following your posterior buttocks lift, you should see noticeable results. In the initial days and weeks following your surgery, there will be swelling in the buttocks that will require time to subside. The results of your buttocks lift can last for quite a long time provided you maintain healthy lifestyle habits. Future fluctuations in weight can affect your results, so focus on maintaining your weight.
