This patient is a 50 year old woman who consulted with Dr. Daniel concerning problems she related to her large breasts. She had back pain, neck pain, shoulder strap grooving, and occasional rashes under her breasts. She had tried physical therapy and diet and had lost a fair amount of weight, but she had no change in her breast size.
Her current bras were 40G or 42H and were all custom fit. She felt that she would ideally like to be C sized. By her height and weight, her insurance required that 628 grams be removed per breast during her breast reduction procedure. To correct her asymmetry, 728 grams were removed from her right breast and 914 grams were removed from her left breast for a total of 3.6 pounds of breast tissue.
Dr. Daniel chose what is termed the pedicle technique for breast reduction. This keeps the best supply and innervation to the nipple-areolar complex. Her postop photographs were taken only six months after surgery (it typically takes a full 12 months to fully fade incisions). The patient and Dr. Daniel were both quite pleased with her contours and her rapid increase in activity postoperatively. She stated that she had passed Dr. Daniel’s name on to her friends and she said that Dr. Daniel’s practice is “the best.” Her pain and other symptoms were totally taken care of with this operation.
