This 59-year-old, 239 pound patient presented for breast reduction. She discussed her plans with Dr. Daniel. She commented on not being able to exercise much because of her breast size. She was a 44 DD before surgery and she wanted to be quite small after surgery. Her symptomatology consisted of back pain, neck pain, and shoulder strap grooving. Because of the amount of reduction that she requested, a nipple graft technique was chosen. Over 3 1/2 pounds of breast tissue was removed from her right breast and over 2 1/2 pounds from her smaller left breast. Her postoperative photographs were taken at three months because she and her husband were traveling out of the area for quite some time. Even at three months postoperatively, she had already lost ten pounds by becoming more active. She also commented to Dr. Daniel about dramatic improvement in her back pain. The surgical incisions will continue to fade through a 12-month period. Many times, breast reductions are covered by the patient’s insurance for functional reasons.
