Before Your Permanent Cosmetic Makeup Treatment

Prior to your treatment at Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, it’s important that you schedule a consultation. This allows you and your permanent makeup artist time to assess your concerns, discuss your options and create a treatment plan based on your needs and goals. Your consultation is the best time to ask any questions you may have about the treatment and inquire about other med spa or plastic surgery procedures you may be considering.

Permanent makeup is a tattooing technique used to enhance your appearance. It can be used for cosmetic reasons or to improve aesthetic concerns. Most adult men and women can be a candidate for permanent makeup. It’s not just for individuals wanting to cut down on their makeup routine. Permanent makeup can be a solution for:

  • Active people wanting to look their best without worrying about sweating it off.
  • Individuals with physical challenges that make makeup application difficult.
  • Individuals with allergies and skin sensitivities to traditional makeup products.

Permanent makeup is versatile and can be used for a variety of applications:

  • Microblading to enhance and define the brows.
  • Lip lining and tinting to make your pout stand out.
  • Permanent eyeliner to have definition all day, every day.
  • Permanent eyeliner to have definition all day, every day.
  • Nipple enhancement to define the nipples or to add the illusion of a nipple after breast reconstruction.
  • Camouflaging scars or hair loss.
  • Improve uneven skin pigment.

Your Permanent Cosmetic Makeup Treatment

Before your treatment, your permanent makeup artist will create an outline on the targeted area of your skin to make sure your results come out symmetrical and even. Depending on the treatment, you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the skin before beginning treatment. Next, she will use a tattoo device suitable to the treatment being performed. The device will be held over the skin and the tiny needles penetrate the upper layers of the dermis just below the epidermis to add pigment to the treated area. Your initial treatment session may take up to 2 to 3 hours.

After Your Treatment

Once the treatment is complete, ointment is applied to keep the area soft and to promote healing. You may experience some redness and minimal swelling, but that is to be expected. Sarah will give you instructions on how to care for your skin and what you should avoid while you heal. Most individuals are able to return to their normal activities shortly after their procedure.

Although individual recovery times vary, many people experience their full results around 2 to 3 weeks following treatment. Depending on your goals, you may need more than 1 session to get the best results. Tattoos tend to fade over time, so it is most likely that you will need a touch up later on down the line.
