Why Procedures Like the Facelift Work Best Together

When we age, it affects our bodies – all over. With our faces, skin begins to sag, lines and wrinkles form, and volume is lost. This happens throughout the face from the jawline or cheeks to the forehead and eyes. Although some areas may be more apparent, all are affected.

There are many facial plastic surgery procedures out there to solve these various signs of aging. However, there is no one procedure that works to solve every single issue. While the facelift is a favorite for eliminating jowls and sagging cheeks, it cannot also completely address problems with the eyelids or wrinkles in the forehead. That is where eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or a brow lift come into play. By combining facial surgeries, a patient can more fully address visible signs of aging in multiple areas of the face.

A Look at the Results

A study from 2012 found that patients who had undergone three facial procedures were perceived to look younger than those who had undergone one or two. The University of Toronto asked a group of about 40 medical students to look at a set of 60 before and after photos of patients who had undergone between one and three facial procedures. Of those patients, the most common procedures included the facelift in Oregon, neck lift, brow lift and eyelid surgery.

At the end of the study, the results linked more facial procedures to a more youthful appearance. The patients who had undergone just a facelift were perceived to look an average of 5.7 years younger after their surgery. Those who had two facial surgeries were perceived as 7.5 years younger and the patients that had undergone three facial procedures topped off at an average of 8.4 years younger.

Regardless of how many procedures were involved, the consensus was that facial plastic surgery in Oregon is successful in knocking years off of a patient’s appearance.
