As we age, the body’s natural collagen production slows, causing our skin to lose its firmness. Sagging, loose skin, fine lines, wrinkles, and skin bulges are all common side effects of the aging process. Thermage® is a non-invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency energy to target problem areas, stimulating collagen production to tone and rejuvenate the complexion.

The Certified Advanced Estheticians at Aesthetic Plastic Surgery are skilled and experienced in administering Thermage® in Eugene to treat signs of aging almost anywhere on the body. In addition to Thermage®, we offer a wide range of non-surgical skin rejuvenation options to help women and men enjoy a revitalized, more youthful appearance.

Before Your Thermage® Treatment

It’s important to have a consultation with a member of the aesthetic team prior to your Thermage® procedure. During your consultation, you’ll be able to discuss the outcome you hope to achieve and ask any questions you may have about the procedure. One of our Certified Advanced Estheticians can help explain the details of the procedure and recommend a customized approach that will best help you meet your specific needs.

Thermage® can be used to treat almost any area on the face and neck. It can be particularly effective for:

  • Hooding around the eyelids
  • Drooping or sagging brows
  • Loose jowls or neck skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

Thermage® works to smooth and tighten the skin, restoring more youthful contours to the body and face. The radiofrequency technology from a Thermage® treatment stimulates collagen production, which can lift sagging skin and create better definition.

Anyone who wants to improve his or her skin laxity and appearance without surgery can benefit from Thermage®. Thermage® works well on all skin types and tones, though ideal candidates should be in good health, have mild to moderate skin laxity and thin to medium skin thickness. During your consultation, we can help you determine whether you may best benefit from Thermage® or an alternate approach. Additionally, you may wish to combine your Thermage® results with BOTOX® or dermal fillers to smooth out specific lines and wrinkles, further enhancing your results.

Your Thermage® Procedure

Thermage® treatments use radiofrequency technology to penetrate three layers of skin: the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous. There should be no adverse impact on the surface skin layers. The heat generates a tightening effect, remodeling the existing collagen and stimulating the production of new collagen. Collagen is essential in maintaining the skin’s elasticity.

The length of a Thermage® treatment depends on the treatment area. For the eyes and face, a session may last between 30 minutes to two hours. A device will be touched to your skin that emits radiofrequency energy. During treatment, you’ll feel alternating cooling and heating sensations. These pulses are caused by the radiofrequency penetrating your skin to remodel the existing collagen and stimulate new collagen growth.

Healing Process for your Thermage® Procedure

Patients can immediately resume normal activities, as no downtime is necessary following a Thermage® treatment. Some redness may occur in the treated areas but should disappear within several hours. Mild swelling is possible but typically subsides in one to two days.

One of the key advantages to Thermage® is that most patients can achieve their desired results after just a single treatment. You should notice an immediate improvement in skin laxity following your treatment, and results can continue to develop for up to six months as the body continues to produce new collagen. Patients with severe skin laxity may require more than one treatment for an ideal outcome.
