Dermaplane in Eugene, OR
Sometimes, exfoliating with at-home products just doesn’t cut it. When you find that it’s time to unclog your pores, smooth out an uneven complexion, and lighten blemishes, a dermaplaning treatment might be in order. These cosmetic skin treatments involve exfoliating the skin’s surface by using a sterile surgical scalpel to gently scrape away the top layer of dead skin cells and fine vellus hair, commonly known as peach fuzz.

“The staff that manages and performs the “spa” side of the office is efficient and professional while being good humored. Thank you for your service! It was fun to go back and read some of these reviews just now. I always like their advice and was very impressed that Dr Baldwin texted me after a past service and asked how I liked the results!”
Before Your Dermaplane
Here’s what is typically involved in a dermaplaning treatment:
Before getting your treatment, you’ll have a brief, one-on-one consultation to talk about the procedure. During this time, you’ll be able to outline your goals for your skin and even map out a treatment plan with one of our Certified Advanced Aestheticians. If using retinoids or tretinoin products, discontinue use 7 days prior to dermaplaning treatment.
In addition to clearing away hair and dead skin cells and unclogging pores, dermaplaning helps your medical-grade products penetrate deeper into the skin, helping to combat signs of age. Many patients pair their dermaplane treatment with a DiamondGlow® or Chemical Peel treatment for increased results.
Your Treatment
Dermaplane treatments only last around 15-30 minutes. After The skin is thoroughly cleansed to remove any makeup, oil, or debris, your Certified Advanced Esthetician will use a sterile surgical scalpel held at a 45-degree angle to gently scrape the surface of the skin. This removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells and fine hairs. The sensation may feel like a gentle scraping or scratching sensation. However, most individuals do not find it uncomfortable. Your Certified Advanced Esthetician will customize each treatment for your specific needs and may perform multiple passes over problem areas of the skin.
Healing Process for Your Treatment
There is no downtime required for dermaplaning, and you can return to your busy schedule once you leave our office. Your complexion will likely appear slightly pink when your treatment is finished, but this should fade within a few hours. Your skin will be photosensitive for about a week following your treatment, so you should use sun protection if you spend time outdoors. You may resume retinoid and tretinoin use 3 days after treatment.
Patients notice that their skin appears brighter and feels smoother immediately after treatment.
