As with any cosmetic procedure, the first step to achieving your ideal results is scheduling a consultation. During this appointment, you can discuss your goals with one of our Certified Advanced Aestheticians and ask any questions you may have about the procedure.
We will also make recommendations to help you further determine which areas of your body can be treated to best meet your goals.
While CoolSculpting can be an effective alternative to traditional liposuction for patients with less extensive needs, your results will be limited due to the noninvasive nature of the procedure. CoolSculpting® is not an alternative to traditional weight loss.
The best candidates for CoolSculpting are in good overall physical and mental health and have reached their ideal body weight, but are still troubled by stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.
Developed by Harvard scientists, this unique procedure uses a targeted cooling process that kills the fat cells underneath the skin using a process called cryolipolysis.
The process crystalizes fat cells with a controlled cooling technique, freezing them to the point of elimination without damaging nearby cells or tissue.
During your CoolSculpting procedure, a cooling applicator will be applied to your problem areas to freeze away your unwanted fat. Most commonly, CoolSculpting is used on small, isolated areas of adipose (fatty) tissue such as the love handles or muffin top.
CoolSculpting has been FDA-cleared to treat visible fat bulges on just about any area of the body. Some common treatment areas include:
The treatment itself normally takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on the size, location and number of areas needing treatment. Many patients benefit from a second treatment 2 to 4 months after the initial procedure to further fine-tune their results.
At our med spa, we offer additional CoolSculpting® options to ensure optimum results:
One of the biggest advantages of CoolSculpting is that the procedure requires no downtime. Patients may resume their normal routine immediately following treatment.
However, depending on the patient, minor temporary discomfort may occur. Possible side effects can include redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness to the touch, cramping, itching or tingling.
Patients typically lose 20 to 25 percent of their fat in each treated area. Results can take from 2 to 4 months to develop, after which you may choose to have an additional treatment.
Many patients begin to notice results after 2 to 3 weeks, though significant results may not be visible until the 3-month mark. As your body needs time to naturally remove the treated fat cells, your results may not be fully developed until up to 6 months after your treatment.
CoolSculpting results are designed to be long-lasting. However, patients are encouraged to maintain their contouring results with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery participates in the Brilliant Distinctions Rewards Program for patients who receive CoolSculpting, as well as BOTOX and certain dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM, JUVÉDERM XC or VOLUMA. Learn more or enroll here.
