ThermiVa vs. Other Treatments
Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (e.g., MonaLisa Touch, FemiLift)
Like ThermiVa®, laser treatments are non-surgical and designed to stimulate collagen. However, they use laser energy instead of radiofrequency. Though results can be similar—increased tightness, improved lubrication, and reduced urinary incontinence—laser treatments can require a short period of downtime, and some patients report mild discomfort during the procedure.
Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that involves the reduction and reshaping of the labia minora, the inner vaginal lips. This is more invasive than ThermiVa® and comes with the risks associated with surgery, including the potential for infection and longer recovery.
Vaginoplasty
Another surgical option, vaginoplasty, aims to tighten the vaginal canal, often after childbirth. Unlike ThermiVa®, which is non-invasive, vaginoplasty has significant recovery time and includes the risks associated with anesthesia and surgery. It may offer a more dramatic result for those with considerable laxity.
Kegel Exercises and Devices
Kegel exercises and pelvic floor training devices work to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. While these options are low-cost and non-invasive, they require consistent effort over time and typically do not yield results as quickly or noticeably as ThermiVa® or other medical procedures.
