Perhaps the most common reason that comes to mind when you think of liposuction is to repair some of the ways pregnancy can impact the body. However, many women feel that they could benefit from the procedure before having children. As pregnancy undoubtedly affects your midsection significantly, with a varying level of lasting changes, it’s commonly believed that liposuction before pregnancy is best avoided. In truth, there is no concrete reason why you should wait to have liposuction.

Liposuction Does Not Affect Pregnancy or Childbirth

Liposuction will not affect your chances of becoming pregnant, the pregnancy itself or childbirth. There is no danger to your future unborn child, should you choose to have liposuction before pregnancy. If you do intend to have children in the near future, you may decide to delay liposuction to avoid undoing the results. Otherwise, there is no reason not to proceed with the body contouring procedure. It is important to keep in mind, however, that any scar tissue left from liposuction may feel tighter as your skin stretches during pregnancy, but this is not harmful.

Liposuction Can Help Increase Self-Esteem and Confidence

Rather than thinking about whether or not you may plan to become pregnant in the future, why not think about how good liposuction could make you feel right now? If you have stubborn pockets of fat despite being otherwise at your target weight and body shape, liposuction could go a long way towards increasing your self-esteem and confidence. Unless you are actively trying to conceive, or suspect you may be pregnant, future pregnancy plans need not affect your decision to sculpt your silhouette with liposuction.
