  The best candidates for breast implant revision surgery should be in good health overall and have realistic expectations about what can be achieved with the procedure. Women who are dissatisfied with the outcome of a previous surgery, unhappy with their implant size or who are experiencing complications with their implants can find great satisfaction and improved quality of life from a revision breast augmentation.

• Will breast implant revision surgery give me more scars?

  Minimizing scarring is an important goal with breast implant revision. Whenever possible, Dr. Daniel will work with existing scars to meet this goal. You can discuss incision placement with Dr. Daniel ahead of time so that you’ll know what to expect. In the instances where some additional incisions are necessary, most women feel that the benefits of the revision procedure far outweigh concerns over scarring.

• How do I know if my implants need to be replaced?

  Although breast implant manufacturers do have some recommended lifespans, breast implants do not come with a specific expiration date. Typically, as long as you’re still satisfied with your results and there are no signs of complications with your implants, there’s no need to replace or remove them. However, if you’ve decided you would like smaller or larger implants or there are signs of an implant leak or rupture, you should discuss breast augmentation revision with your plastic surgeon.
