DiamondGlow® in Eugene, OR

As the largest organ, your skin is regularly exposed to harmful UV rays, pollutants, and bacteria from the environment. Because of this, your skin might develop signs of wear, tear, and various irritated conditions. Common skin issues include acne scars, discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, and spots from sun damage.

What Is DiamondGlow®?

DiamondGlow® is a dermabrasion device that helps to reduce or repair skin conditions and revitalizes a healthy, youthful glow.

The DiamondGlow® device also includes a vacuum-like suction feature to help extract impurities from the skin, such as blackheads and debris from the pores.

Infusion: Simultaneously with exfoliation and extraction, the system delivers specialized serums into the skin. These serums are tailored to address specific skin concerns, such as hydration, brightening, or anti-aging. The infusion process aims to enhance the absorption of these serums for better results.

Customizable Treatment: DiamondGlow® treatments are customizable based on individual skin needs. The practitioner can select different levels of exfoliation and use specific serums to target particular skin concerns.

Benefits of DiamondGlow® may include improved skin texture, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, enhanced hydration, and a brighter complexion. The treatment is generally considered suitable for various skin types.

What Is Dermabrasion?

Dermabrasion is an exfoliating or skin-resurfacing technique that removes the most superficial layers of the epidermis, typically on the face. This results in revealing a new layer of smooth, vibrant skin. This treatment has the added benefit of stimulating collagen production. Collagen is a naturally occurring protein that helps make skin tighter and more supple. Dermabrasion in Eugene decreases the appearance of fine lines and improves the appearance of various skin issues, such as acne and acne scarring, wrinkles, age spots, and surgery scars.

Depending on your aesthetic goals, skin condition, and type, Dr. Daniel might also recommend a chemical peel or another form of skincare treatment in combination with dermabrasion to further enhance results.

Types of Dermabrasion

There are three common types of dermabrasion. Each one uses a different method to polish the skin. Diamond dermabrasion uses a diamond tip wand to polish the skin and remove dead cells. Microdermabrasion blows aluminum oxide crystals from a unique handheld tool, which gently exfoliates the skin before being removed with a suction mechanism along with the dead skin cells. Laser dermabrasion utilizes concentrated light beams to remove skin irregularities, blemishes, and acne.

Am I a Candidate for Dermabrasion?

If you are unhappy with the texture or overall appearance of dull skin, you could benefit from dermabrasion treatments in Eugene. Your skin type, tone, and medical history will play a role in determining the success of the procedure. You could be an ideal candidate if you:

  • Have not had any recent facial surgery, such as eyelid or facelift surgery
  • Are not currently pregnant
  • Do not have a skin disorder that would make treatment harder or interfere with the healing process
  • Have not used isotretinoin as an acne treatment in the last 6–12 months
  • Are not currently experiencing a severe acne breakout
  • Do not have a history of hypertrophic scarring

The best way to know if you would benefit from dermabrasion or any other type of treatment is to schedule a consultation. During this visit, Dr. Daniel will assess your health history, goals, and skin condition to customize a treatment plan that will work best for your individual needs.

The Dermabrasion Procedure

Our aesthetic experts in Eugene can perform dermabrasion on your entire face or just a section of it. We can also perform the treatment on other areas of the body such as back, shoulders, arms and buttocks. Your smoother complexion could be visible after the first session, but the best outcomes can only be assured after six to ten sessions.

The process can take about 30 minutes to slightly longer than an hour, depending on how much skin you would like to be treated.

After the Procedure

Dermabrasion is non-invasive and requires no downtime or recovery. Most patients can return to their regular schedules immediately after treatment. However, it is common for skin to appear irritated and blotchy for a while during the healing process. The duration of this will depend on the technique used and the size of the treatment area.

The rejuvenating results of dermabrasion will continue to develop over the next several weeks. It is important to utilize proper skin care, including keeping your skin clean and moisturized and practicing good sun protection.
