A reader asks: “I am curious about chin implants; how common are they?”

A big thanks to the reader who had questions about chin implants. New and exciting options for chin implants are here. Traditional Silastic chin implants are a safe and simple surgical procedure. Some local anesthesia with sedation can be used or even a light general anesthesia. The incision tends to be very well hidden and there is very little down time post-surgery.

New techniques with no downtime options are now available through injectable fillers. I have many patients with under projecting chins or chin and jaw asymmetry that I have successfully treated with an injectable material . This process takes 5-10 minutes in the office and can be an excellent option for most patients.
