Your Thermage® Procedure
Thermage® treatments use radiofrequency technology to penetrate three layers of skin: the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous. There should be no adverse impact on the surface skin layers. The heat generates a tightening effect, remodeling the existing collagen and stimulating the production of new collagen. Collagen is essential in maintaining the skin’s elasticity.
The length of a Thermage® treatment depends on the treatment area. For the eyes and face, a session may last between 1 hour to three hours. A device will be touched to your skin that emits radiofrequency energy. During treatment, you’ll feel alternating cooling and heating sensations. These pulses are caused by the radiofrequency penetrating your skin to remodel the existing collagen and stimulate new collagen growth.
Healing Process for your Thermage® Procedure
Patients can immediately resume normal activities, as no downtime is necessary following a Thermage® treatment. Some redness may occur in the treated areas but should disappear within several hours. Mild swelling is possible but typically subsides in one to two days.
