The patient is a 37 year old mother of two who consulted with Dr. Daniel about a breast lift (mastopexy). She stated that she was a DD and she wanted to be slightly smaller. She primarily did not like the shape of her breasts or the size of the areolae. Because she wanted much more of a breast lift than a true medically necessary reduction, insurance does not typically cover this situation. Dr. Daniel performed her procedure using a “vertical bipedicle technique.” This leaves anchor-shaped incisions on the breast, but allows for decrease in the size of the areolae, but also keeps excellent blood supply and sensation as well. Dr. Daniel uses the fold under the breast as the reference point for new nipple position. She is so much happier with her shape and she has clearly been working on her tan! Her postoperative recovery was uneventful and she was very happy with her results.
