You can do as many chin-ups as you want but exercise can’t make a weak chin stronger. Also known as genioplasty, chin augmentation is a procedure that enhances the shape or size of the chin with the help of implants. If an ill-defined or recessive chin takes away from your facial structure, chin augmentation can better enhance your jawline.

Dr. Lee B. Daniel knows a thing or two about bringing out the superhero in every man. As one of the best plastic surgeons for men in the greater Eugene area, he is proud to have helped thousands of satisfied clients throughout Oregon and beyond.

Before Your Chin Enhancement

Before your chin augmentation surgery, you’ll have a consultation with Dr. Daniel to discuss your preferences and goals. During this time, you’ll learn more about your chin augmentation options and the approach that might be best for the results you want. Dr. Daniel firmly believes in customizing each procedure to the unique preferences and anatomy of every man, helping you maintain a natural look throughout the process.

Your Chin Augmentation Procedure

Chin augmentation can be performed using one of two techniques. The first and the least invasive technique is to use injectable fillers to subtly shape and augment the chin. This procedure is non-surgical, meaning it is quicker and requires little to no downtime. However, fillers are a temporary solution that requires regular maintenance visits every few months to maintain their results.

The second option is to augment the chin using a small, natural-looking implant. A chin implant is inserted surgically, so this technique will require the use of anesthesia and incisions. Either general or local anesthesia may be used. Usually, only one small incision is required, placed either below the chin or inside the mouth to be as discreet as possible.

Once the incision is made, Dr. Daniel will carefully insert the implant. Chin implants are made of a biocompatible material (typically silicone), and are designed to fit snugly around the chin bone to provide a natural-looking augmentation.

Healing Process for Chin Augmentation

The healing process for your chin augmentation procedure will vary based on whether you’ve opted for fillers or an implant. If you’ve gone with fillers, you can return to your normal routine right away. Your results should develop over the following several days. You may have some light swelling or pinkness around the injection sites, and some people develop slight bruising, but any side effects generally fade quickly, leaving you with a stronger-looking jawline.

Those who have opted for the chin implant can expect a slightly longer recovery time, but chin augmentation is a relatively simple surgery and downtime is usually minimal. You’ll likely develop some bruising, swelling and slight soreness surrounding the chin area. Most men can return to work after around 7 days of rest following chin surgery. You should be able to notice a difference in your look soon after surgery, though your final results will develop gradually over the coming weeks as swelling subsides and you adjust to the new implant.
