For most women, their goal with breast augmentation is to achieve an enhanced breast size that looks and feels as natural as possible. Some women allow the fear of visible rippling to deter them from having breast augmentation because they think it’s an inevitable side effect. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Here are some highly effective ways to avoid breast implant ripples and see amazingly natural results.

Consider Silicone Over Saline

[pullquote]Although many women get great results with saline implants, women concerned with rippling should consider choosing silicone implants instead.[/pullquote]

The cohesive gel in silicone implants closely mimics the texture and movement of real breast tissue, and the shell of silicone implants is less likely to ripple and show through the skin than their saline counterparts.

Very thin women or women with very little natural breast tissue should especially consider silicone because there’s less existing tissue to help hide and conceal the implant.

Choose a Proportionate Implant Size

Generally speaking, the risk of visible rippling increases when women choose very large implants. To increase your odds of your breast implants seamlessly blending in with your natural breast tissue, opt for a proportionate size that flatters and complements your figure.

Implant Placement Matters

The pectoral muscles can be an important ally in successfully disguising breast implants and avoiding ripples. Some women may be good candidates for implants being placed on top of the chest muscles, however, the chest muscle can provide more of a barrier between the implant and the breast skin and reduce the risk of rippling.

Depending on your anatomy and your goals, your plastic surgeon can help you determine the best choices for implant size, type and location to give you the best results and keep rippling at bay.
