Thinning hair and hair loss are common problems for men and women alike. Whether you’re bothered by the appearance of thinning eyebrows or are struggling with hair loss due to aging or a medical condition, PRP hair restoration may be able to help you look and feel more like yourself again.

Our team here at Aesthetic Plastic surgery in Eugene provides customized cosmetic solutions, including PRP for hair loss, to help men and women feel refreshed, revitalized, and confident in their appearance. We take the time to listen to your goals, then recommend the most appropriate treatment solution just for you.*

What Does PRP Stand For?

PRP stands for “platelet-rich plasma,” a substance that is already naturally found in your blood, where it serves two main purposes: to help your blood clot, and to help wounds heal. To promote wound healing, PRP naturally contains high concentrations of growth factors. When injected into your scalp, PRP may help to reduce the inflammation that causes hair loss and thinning and help you to regrow hair naturally.

Before Your PRP Hair Restoration

Before moving forward with PRP hair restoration, you’ll sit down with one of our Nurse Injectors to discuss the details of this treatment, answer any questions you might have, and assess whether it’s right for you. Just about anyone who is struggling with thinning eyebrows or hair loss can be a good candidate for PRP hair restoration. However, the sooner you begin treatment, the more effective PRP may be.

During a PRP Hair Restoration Procedure

The PRP hair restoration process consists of two steps. First, a member of our team will draw blood from your arm, much like if you were donating blood. Then, that blood is put into a centrifuge machine, which spins very rapidly in order to separate the PRP from your blood. The separated PRP is then carefully injected into the parts of your scalp or brow where hair loss or thinning is a concern.

You may need a series of PRP treatments, each spaced about a month apart, to achieve optimal results. The number of treatments necessary will depend on your individual needs and circumstances and can be discussed during your initial consultation.

After PRP Hair Restoration

PRP hair restoration is typically a relatively short and simple procedure and shouldn’t require any downtime after your appointment. As with any injection, you may notice some temporary bruising or minor discomfort directly afterward. However, these side effects are usually very mild and should go away on their own.

Many people begin to notice the first signs of their results after PRP hair restoration around the two- or three-month mark, with gradual improvements continuing over the next weeks and months.
