Many of us are insecure about the size, shape or projection of our nose. Rhinoplasty, often referred to as a “nose job” has made it possible for us to permanently address our nasal insecurities. While this is great for some, others are squeamish about going under the knife for the sake of vanity. Fortunately, if you fall into the latter category, there are non-surgical options.
According to NYC dermatologist, Dr. Eric Shweiger, a non-surgical nose job is a fairly straightforward, minimally invasive way to cosmetically correct the nose.
“It’s a procedure that can be done in about 15 minutes,” Schweiger said. “The patient comes in and has an identifiable issue with their nose, like a bump or a downward turning of their nose, and we use filling material to correct that problem.
It’s important to note that because injectable fillers are used, a non-surgical nose job can only produce temporary results. Some of the most popular nose job fillers include Restylane®, Juvederm® and Radiesse®.
Who’s a candidate for a non-surgical nose job?
Though many patients may benefit from a non-surgical nose job, it may not be right for everyone. Only minor nose irregularities or asymmetries may be corrected without surgery. Additionally, if you have a current skin infection, or you’ve had a previous allergic reaction to dermal fillers, a non-surgical nose job may not be right for you.
Following your procedure, it’s common to experience bruising and swelling. These temporary side effects often resolve within 7-10 days. The final results will last up to one year. You will then need to return for maintenance appointments.
